Phil's day
Hi all, the Weds club had its 3rd match against Saffron Walden at Beggar's Hall club lake this week. It was a reasonable day weather wise. I decided to make 3 sections out of the lake to make it a bit more fair. I drew last peg out - peg 17 normally a very good peg. I made up two pole lines and a feeder to the island. The feeder proved to be a total non-starter and I stayed far too long on this for no results. Tried my longer pole lines about 1 ish in the afternoon but, apart from a few rudd and an odd roach, nothing so time to check out the margin. Fished there for a hour then hooked a carp for 12lb unfortunately I had brought the wrong landing net - ok for most places but here you need the next size up but I managed to get it in. I went on to catch 2 more carp and lose 3 for 35lbs 8oz.
The secs winners were Sec 1 Peter Green with 52lbs 1oz, sec two Graham Carter with 41lbs 14oz and sec three Mark Evans with 86lbs 8oz ,2nd in sec one Fred Hunt with 33lb 14oz, 2nd in sec two Rob Calderón with 38lbs 7oz and 2nd in sec three Bill Beeston with 72lbs 4oz. Saffron Walden won with 75 points to Bishop's Stortford's 61 points. The lake fished quite well for the amount of anglers on it. The pic is Fred Hunt as a treat to Denise on her birthday.
